Inspiration for M.R.K.T.’s fall URBAN EXPLORER collection comes from the untouched arts district on the west side of Los Angeles. Tucked away in Culver City, the row of art galleries, abstract buildings, and concrete structures contributed to the design and development of the dark saturated colors and edgy structures.
We've always lived in major cities, whether it's LA, New York, Shanghai, or Hong Kong, and one thing about living in a city is that it's where a lot of creative people are, and it's where there's a creative ethos and an open-minded ethos. So we're trying to bring that open-minded spirit into our products. We're testing new ideas or accepting different ways of doing things.
Accepting this industrial district as abstract beauty has been the root of creativity and inspiration for the Urban Explorer collection. Dark and obscure, the tone in the color palette is heavily saturated with color blocking along with selective signature color pops. The strong use of color helps translate an artistic point of view to the busy professional who embraces the unknown.
